Your parents need to speak to the head of the agency or move you to another agency. This is inappropriate. If my daughter were under 16 I would not let her have a male agent for any reason - there are pervs who get into this business just to seduce young girls

In NY State, agencies are limited to a 10% commission. In other states 15-20% is standard. If an agency is acting as both agent and manager, then they might take up to 25%

The ONLY way an agency would take over 30% is IF you were living in another city/country and they fronted you the money for your move, put you up temporarily in a model apartment or are advancing you the money for your comp cards. Then you wouldn’t be paying that commission forever, it would normally just be for your first few months until the agency recouped the money they had spent on your move, temporary housing or photography. This is a very rare case - not at all normal. But it does happen if an agency is bringing in a model from a poor country like Brazil or somewhere in Eastern Europe where there is no way that model could afford to move to a city like NY or Paris on their own

EDIT - In the UK, standard agency fees are 15-20%. The most I’ve ever heard of was 33% and everyone in the industry calls it them a rip-off — they don’t have any decent models because nobody with potential will sign up with them, so they are stuck conning naive girls and booking them on low paid promo jobs

Also you don’t want to sign a contract that says "received by model, directly or indirectly, under all contracts of employment" - that means if you find a job on your own (indirectly) or through an agency in another city/country you will STILL have to pay that agency 60%. NEVER sign anything like this. If you sign this they will go after you for 60% of every job you do for the rest of your life. What happens if you get a job booked by an LA agency who takes 15%, then the UK agency takes 60% (completely legal if you signed that contract agreeing to those terms) - that means you are paying 75% commission. Ridiculous!
