  2. well first off, modeling agencies and acting agencies are two VERY different things, and acting agencies are also a scam if they ask for money- however, modeling and acting are not "free" by any means. both require you get professional photos made (headshots for acting, and comp cards for modeling) right away, and acting agencies actually will not even consider you without having a (very impressive) acting resume, professional headshots (which cost around $700 and up) and a demo reel. an acting agency never ever hires actors who havent already built very solid acting careers for themselves on their own- meaning if you dont have years of paid work to your name both onstage and on camera, an acting agency isnt an option. modeling agencies are totally different, and no legit agency hires a person as both an actor AND a model. good modeling agencies dont even sign actors and vice versa. first of all, how tall are you, do you fit into sample sizes and do you have the features agencies look for in models? you have to be at LEAST 5′8" to even submit to any modeling agency in the u.s. if you are over 12 years old. secondly, you must wear a size 2 or 4 and have very long legs with at least a 34" inseam. measurements must be in perfect proportion (about 33-24-34 or within an inch). there are almost no agencies in the u.s. that are left who have petite divisions, so even though americas next top model leads people to believe agencies sign short girls, its unfortunately not true. modeling agencies are brutally competitive- literally tens of thousands of girls submit weekly and they choose 5-6 new girls twice YEARLY. theyve set a nearly impossible standard that very few people actually meet, so do not expect to get signed, and dont feel bad about yourself if you dont- 99.9% of women who try to get signed dont. its a very stressful job, and when youre young its even more stressful. im still modeling now, and started when i was a young teenager and was told that i needed to lose weight (at a size 2) and they are not easy on you at all just because youre young. theyre very harsh and theyll tell you straight up "you dont have a chance at being a model", "lose 20 pounds and come back", "youre way too short to model" etc. so, that said, if you fit ALL the physical requirements, realize that gorgoues, size 2, 5′11" girls are rejected every day and think you can handle that kind of criticism, your next step is to submit to agencies or show up to open calls. unfortunately i dont think any of the top agencies have offices in boston, but i know click is one that does. click again is super competitive and they often take the young teen girls that do get signed and put them in an apartment with other teen models with a chaperone, away from their parents for up to several months at a time. it can be really cutthroat (thats where i started out so im familiar with the scenario)- but im getting ahead of myself. click only accepts submissions from girls 5′8" and up again, so they do not look at submissions of girls under that height, and require snapshots of you, typically against a solid color wall with no makeup in a body conscious, simple shirt and pants and one with a swimsuit, and your info: height, then measurements (thats bust/waist/hips in inches), then dress, then shoe size. click usually signs girls with experience though, so most girls who end up getting signed with them have a professional portfolio. modeling agencies are extremely selective like i said, and the only ones that arent are total scams. be careful of them and dont fall into any traps. email me if you want any more info in the future
